Meeting Notes:
Layne opened the meeting welcoming members and asking for volunteers for the farmers market. Both Layne and Corina talked about the tie dying bonanza at Corina’s for the new club shirts. Next came Treasurer elections, Samuel won by a landslide…he ran unopposed. Layne introduced guest speaker and former NAEPer Matt Akins who spoke about his community bike project and asked for volunteers with a passion for bikes. He gave out information like the project website – www.bikebike.org and his email – smbikeproject@gmail.com. He told members the event is an international bike conference event and San Marcos was chosen to host this exciting event. The conference is June 23-26. Matt encouraged members to get involved and asked for help in any way possible. After Matt Akins finished talking Layne announced our other guest speaker was stuck in traffic so Maia Holmes Co-VP and WaterAid President bravely stood up and stalled by announcing a WaterAid meeting tomorrow (2/16/11) in ELA 229 with guest speaker Tom Goines, President of the Texas Rivers Protection Association. Maia added that an old movie of the San Marcos River would be shown. Corina then improvised asking members if they had any questions or suggestions for the semester. Elle Minter then took the stage and made announcements about Bobcat Blend and Bobcat Build. Maia talked about organizing a trip to the new recycling center in Creedmoor to see the TDS Facility and the MRF there. Layne spoke to members about the club – what we do and what is coming up, and then the meeting was adjourned.
