Andres Segovia
Syrus Borders will soon be graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geography - Water Resources, a minor in Geology, and a GIS certificate. He was born in Orlando, FL, obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, and has navigated the majority of major streams that originate within the Hill Country of Texas and along the Balcones Escarpment. He was quickly enthralled by karstic terrains at a young age, particularly caves, springs, ground to surface water interactions, and the clarity of streams within these regions. Through years of scouting, he gained an affinity for riparian and aquatic ecosystems with an interest in the water quality that those systems depend upon. As a student at Texas State University, he strived to acquire the knowledge necessary to manage these ecosystems, taking a particular interest on the topics of geomorphology, fluvial processes, wildlife & watershed management, and how to implement GIS within those fields. He hopes to obtain a career as GIS analyst working in the field within a lacustrine, alluvial, or deltaic environment.
