San Marcos Buildings Evacuation Routes

San Martian Evacuators - Texas State University

San Marcos Buildings Evacuation Routes
The San Martian Evacuators were tasked with creating updated and collected standardized data to establish emergency evacuation maps for the City of San Marcos (CoSM). Historically, the CoSM facilities’ emergency evacuation maps have been outdated, inaccurate, and missing vital features. In the project, we produced standardized static maps for three facilities (City Hall, Grant Harris, and the Municipal Building) and standardized data for the CoSM’s Facilities Viewer application. Our project utilized ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Map Viewer, and GIS techniques in ArcGIS Pro. We created a Python Toolbox with a standardized template, so the rest of the San Marcos’ facilities can automate these emergency routes. With this template and standardized data, these maps and routes optimize navigation and operational efficiency, ensuring safety procedures are met in the case of an emergency.
