I will be a spring 2018 graduate with degrees in GIS and International Relations with a minor in History. During my time at Texas State, I enjoyed membership with Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Chi, Study Abroad Ambassadors and worked as a lab technician in Flowers Hall English department. I hope to gain a meaningful starter career in Geospatial Analytics and broaden my skills in remote sensing through a master’s degree. Later in life I would like to work for USAID or an international organization to promote food security globally using remote sensing and GIS.
My name is Jasi Mitchell, and I'm majoring in Geographic Information Science with a minor in Geology. After graduating this semester, I am planning on traveling and doing some independent research, by teaching myself geo-programing and continue studying GIS. My goal is to combine my passion for the environment and GIS skills for a job in the future, and eventually go back to school for my PhD.
Hey there y'all! My name is Alexandra Thompson and I will be graduating from Texas State University this spring semester with high honors! I will have a Bachelor of Science in Geography with an emphasis in Water Resources. I will also be obtaining a Geographic Information Science Certificate and my minor is English. I'm also the Vice President of the International Honors Society Gamma Theta Upsilon, a honors society within the Department of Geography here at Texas State University. I'm very passionate about the environment and love doing my part to make our great state of Texas a better place! I've interned with the San Marcos Habitat Conservation Plan, an extension of the Edwards Aquifer Authority Habitat Conservation Plan. With them I performed hands-on watershed management and habitat conservation. I've also interned for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. There I worked in the Water Supply Division, Public Drinking Water Section analyzing, correcting, and filing of annual Consumer Confidence Reports completed by Texas Public Water Systems into the government database SIDWIS. I'm currently interning at the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts in the Economic Growth and Endangered Species Management Division working with Robert Gulley on projects protecting species in West and Southern Regions of Texas. A research paper I wrote for my Groundwater Resources course last fall was selected and will soon be published in the Texas State University Undergraduate Research Journal. The paper is titled The Need for an Interstate Compact Between Ogallala States: Analysis of Four Management Options as Guidance for an Innovative Compact Proposal, where I created and proposed a model for an interstate compact amongst the states that utilize the Ogallala Aquifer. So keep an eye out for it! And I will be interning this summer for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland for an Environmental Analyst position. During my 10 weeks there, I will be performing cost-benefit analysis of land surface covers, while considering storm water management, carbon sequestration, pollinators support and employee welfare. I am so happy to have been a part of this wonderful project for the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, and hope that with our data and research we can do our part to protect and improve operations within central Texas! I'm so thankful for this opportunity and can't wait for this new chapter of my life to begin!
Born and raised in Houston. Pursuing a degree in Resource and Environmental Studies, accompanied by a minor in the field of Anthropology. Particularly interested in GIScience and human-environment interactions.
My name is Justin Williams, and I am currently completing my GIS Certificate at Texas State University. I graduated with a BS in Geography in 2014 and came back to complete my certificate because I love GIS so much! Between working and being involved with Texas State’s GIS organization, I spend as much time as possible outside on hiking trails and rivers. After finishing my certificate in May, I intend to get a job in the GIS field.
