About Us




David Olguin
David Olguin received his Associate s of Applied Science degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics from Austin Community College in 2009. He has worked in the utility mapping and land surveying industry for almost eighteen years and is currently pursuing his Bachelor s of Science degree in Geographic Information Science, with a minor in Business Administration, from Texas State University in San Marcos. He currently works as a land survey associate in the electric transmission industry, and plans to obtain his license as a registered professional land surveyor in Texas. He was born and raised in central Texas and enjoys spending time outdoors, sports, fitness, travel, reading, art, and crafting in metal and woodwork.

Jorge Pedromo
Jorge Perdomo is receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science along with a Bachelor of Science in Resource and Environmental Studies with a GIS certification from Texas State University. He currently interns with a civil engineer company mapping watersheds, and water resource infrastructures to help prepare and start floodplain mitigation projects. He hopes to gain more experience in the water resource/GIS field and is still weighing out post-grad options. He was raised in central Texas, enjoys the outdoors, sports and hopes to have a significant impact on the environment one day.

Rhodes Smartt
Rhodes Smartt is graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Resource and Environmental Studies, minor in Geology, and GIS certification in the Fall of 2018 from Texas State. He currently interns with the Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center as a geological interpreter and an environmental educator to young students. Following graduation he wants to pursue a Master’s degree in Geography and then move into a career in environmental consulting. Rhodes was born in and raised in central Texas. His hobbies include photography, woodworking, astronomy, and music.

Samuel Becker
Sam Becker is receiving his Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a GIS Certificate alongside. He currently works at the Texas General Land Office as a GIS Intern and hopes to get into the transportation industry/governance in Austin, using GIS as a tool to achieve progress within it.

Thanh Nguyen
Thanh Nguyen received his Associate of Arts degree in Geography from Blinn Community College in 2016. He has been working as Lab Monitor in Geography Department since February 2018 and is currently pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information System, with a minor in History, from Texas State University in San Marcos. He hopes to get a job which related in GIS so he could have experience on the job. He was born and raised in Vietnam and came to the United States in 2009, he enjoys soccer, ice skating, listening to music and reading history documents (most interest in European and Southeast Asian history).
