Many of the most flood-prone areas in San Marcos, Texas are inhabited by low-income residents. The $500-$1,000 cost of the elevation survey necessary to obtain flood insurance puts it out of reach of many of these low-income families.
The City of San Marcos approached Water Elevation Technologies to assist in the development of a Community Development Block Grant to help residents get the elevation surveys they need. W. E. T. has identified the most flood-prone lower-income areas for the City.
