Bio and Geosciences are awesome!!!!!!
After earning an A.A. in geography from Austin Community College in December 2015, I transferred to Texas State to pursue a B.S. in Geographic Information Science with a minor in Honors Studies.
My current research interests are ecosystem ecology, karst hydrogeology, grassland restoration and remote sensing of vegetation. I am working with the Meadows Center for Water and The Environment to study restorative ecology in a terrestrial biome near Spring Lake, San Marcos, Texas, USA.
Right now my main passions are biogeography and spatial ecology. I am often found on the Edwards Plateau seeking out new places, exploring spring-fed rivers, marveling at endemic plant species, and pondering karst hydrogeology. I love the Texas Hill Country. I also have a deep love for the wildflowers found in Texas. My favorite is Gaillardia pulchella  (also known as Firewheel or Indian Blanket). It is quite beautiful and abundant . As well, it is the official flower of Texas State University, from which the school colors are taken. (Candidly I think that's a stretch at best as the Gaillardia that grow naturally in this eastern region of the Edwards Plateau are typically red and yellow. The specimens near Fredericksburg and Junction are a bit more maroon and gold, I think.)
I am very grateful and proud to be a Texas State Bobcat. I am similarly honored and humbled to share in the spirit of geography as President of SOGIS, an organization full people I am very grateful to be friends with. Eat 'Em Up Cats!!!
