The Pearl Farmers Market in San Antonio offers a weekend market with an emphasis on artisanal and prepared foods. All 45+ vendors are located within a 150 mile radius and range from various farms to wineries to local suppliers. They also offer fun events that are family friendly and offer goods and services from local businesses. The market is held at the historic Brewhouse and they have a splash pad, live music and sometimes offer free yoga on the lawn.

Local Farmer

Johnson’s Backyard Garden began in an urban backyard in East Austin by Brent and Beth Johnson. In 2004, the owners began to sell their produce at local Austin Farmers Markets. In 2006, they began a small community supported agriculture operation (CSA) and have recently expanded their practices to multiple other cities. Through this program, they deliver shares and offer community pickup sites. You can also volunteer on the farm for half a day in exchange for a share of veggies! They are USDA organic certified and are available almost every day of the week at various Farmers Markets around Austin and pop up shops. They also sell wholesale to numerous restaurants throughout the area and include recipes on their blog as well as a veggie seasonal chart.

Local Restaurant

Tacodeli is a local restaurant in Austin that proudly serves local and certified organic produce, meats and seafood. They are strong belivers in sustainable sourcing and use produce from a variety of farms all over Texas. You can find specifically where their food is sourced from located on their website. Tacodeli also supports fair trade cofee from Austin based Texas Coffee Traders which supports fair compensation to growers. Founder and Owner Roberto Espinosa opened Tacodeli in 1999. They serve award winning salsas and a variety of unique tacos!
