Geographical Analysis of the Texas State University-San Marcos

In this Capstone Undergraduate GIS course at Texas State University-San Marcos, students worked as teams on real-world GIS projects. These projects were designed and conducted by the students under the direction of Dr. Yongmei Lu and Charles Yorke. This class helped students develop and demonstrate competence in using GIS techniques while solving real world problems. This project will provide the city of Woodcreek, TX With high resolution models which analyze the existing local infrastructure,to assist the political framework.
This project focuses on:
  • Data acquisition for land-use in 17 counties defined by the Hill Country Alliance.
  • Create a Web-viewer for an interactive map of collected data.
  • Join database with aquaKESKA for cross-refrencing hydrology maps for human impact study.
 
San Marcos Cemetery life expectancy analysis and mapping project:
  • Analyze the future of the cemetery as it relates to available space.
  • Map the San Marcos Cemetery.
  • Create an interactive web search and mapping application of interments.
This project aims to:
  • Creating a public portal to environmental data in 17 counties comprising Hill Country Alliance area of interest.
  • Providing data for groundwater vulnerability model.
